At the paultan.org Auto Car Expo, co-sponsored by Carro and Kärcher, we got a sneak peek at this impressive SUV. The T2 made its right-hand-drive debut, and it's set to hit the market in the first quarter of 2026. With an estimated price tag of RM178,888, it's a premium offering from Jetour, positioning itself as a more luxurious option compared to their other models.
But here's where it gets interesting: the T2's design is a bold statement. With its boxy silhouette, it draws inspiration from the iconic Ford Bronco, featuring square headlights, a prominent grille, and an upright stance. However, unlike the Bronco, the T2 is a unibody construction, measuring slightly larger than the Honda CR-V and almost matching the length of the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Step inside, and you'll find a cabin that's a true reflection of Chinese SUV design. From the robust dashboard to the chunky trim and Allen bolt heads, it exudes a rugged charm. The steering wheel is oblong-shaped, and the large screens - a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch touchscreen - add a modern touch.
The T2 on display showcases some key features, including dual power-adjustable front seats with memory, faux leather upholstery, and a panoramic glass roof. It also boasts wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium 12-speaker Sony sound system, a 360-degree camera system, and six airbags for enhanced safety.
Under the hood, the T2 packs a punch with a 2.0-litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. This powerhouse delivers an impressive 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque, sending power to all four wheels via a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
And this is the part most people miss: Jetour has plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the T2. This variant will utilize a 1.5-litre turbo engine, similar to the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 PHEVs, but with a dedicated hybrid transmission and an electric motor. With battery options of 26.7 kWh and 43.24 kWh, the T2 PHEV offers pure electric ranges of 100 km and 161 km, respectively.
But wait, there's more! The T2 will be Jetour's first model to offer Level 2 semi-autonomous driving functionality. This includes advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear collision warning. It's an impressive suite of technologies, especially considering the absence of a windscreen camera on the display unit.
Initially, the T2 will be available as a fully imported CBU model, but later on, CKD locally assembled versions will roll out from the Berjaya Assembly plant in Johor.
