From NHS Project Manager to R&B Star: The Journey of Chidimma (2026)

By day, Rosemary Nwodoh expertly manages projects for the NHS, but as the sun sets, she transforms into an R&B and neo-soul artist, bringing her musical dreams to life. This 26-year-old from Chatham balances her role at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital with a burgeoning music career, showcasing her original work on streaming platforms under the name Chidimma.

But here's where it gets interesting: Rosemary's journey into music began during the lockdown prompted by the Covid pandemic. With ample time for reflection, she considered her true passions and decided to record and perform her own songs, a significant shift from her earlier plans to pursue a law degree.

Initially in her final year of law school, she made a bold change, opting to focus on a career in healthcare instead. Now contributing to the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, she explained, "I fell out of love with law" and sought creative avenues that resonated with her heart.

"Like many others, I had more time to think during lockdown, and I began to seriously contemplate music as a viable career path," Rosemary shared. While still completing her degree and working part-time within the NHS, she felt a collective sense of gratitude for life and the moments we often take for granted.

This introspection led her to reflect on what truly brought her happiness and how she could share that joy with others. Having sung in choirs throughout her education, she decided to write music and collaborate with her brother to record tracks at home. "That’s when my passion really took off," she said.

Interestingly, her project management expertise has proven invaluable in navigating her new musical endeavors. "Even though it's quite different from music, the organizational skills help me manage the business aspects, like booking performances and scheduling recording sessions," Rosemary noted.

Since stepping onto the stage, she has performed at various venues across London and beyond, releasing several singles and an EP titled 'Love, Chidimma.' For her, music writing and performing have become her "absolute favorite activities."

"At the moment, I’m thrilled just to embrace every opportunity that comes my way and see where this journey leads me," she added with enthusiasm. "I never imagined I would release an EP, so who knows what exciting developments await this year?"
